The news of Dave Shepherd’s passing this weekend (14 March 2026) has hit us and the balfolk community hard. Dave’s infectious love for and extensive knowledge of European dancing and dance music have been a constant inspiration. Thank you Dave, for sharing that love and knowledge with us at our workshops and bals, for teaching us how to dance, as well as how to play, and for penning so many jaw-droppingly beautiful tunes to enrich our hours on the dancefloor.
